The Guardhouse is a spacious, family bungalow which has been maintained to a high standard and provides comfortable, self catering accommodation for up to 7 people.
With full central heating, double glazing throughout, an open fire in the lounge and Rayburn in the kitchen, it remains warm and welcoming in all weathers. It is well equipped and has a sea view from the kitchen and sea view from the lounge (guests can relax beside an open fire and watch Fulmars circle the cliff tops).

Located within the small crofting village of Aird, Uig, The Guardhouse is close to shell sand beaches and well placed for excursions to The Isle of Harris. It is also convenient for Seatrek, who run family boat trips around the inshore islands and to the World Heritage site of St Kilda. An ideal holiday let for the whole family, it would equally suit independent travellers seeking peace and relaxation. It is a convenient base for outdoor activities such as surfing, fishing, walking, sea kayaking, snorkelling, swimming etc and has several sites of ancient and archaeological interest nearby. The Callanish stones are approximately half an hours car journey away.
To the rear of The Guardhouse, the landscape consists of open moorland, lochs and cliffs. If you spend time exploring this unusual area, you will come across the ancient remains of Tigh a Bheannaich chapel, a monastic settlement built on one of the many promontories there.

A short drive from The Guardhouse and visitors are transported into an area of magnificent coastal scenery. The numerous shell sand beaches, lochs, moorlands, streams and mountains found here, lend themselves to a wide variety of outdoor activities and are a haven for flora and fauna.
There is a licensed, well stocked,Community shop/Post office/petrol station approximately 3 miles from Aird, Uig in Timsgarry. It has a cafe area, laundry and cash point facility. In addition, a mobile shop visits Aird village each Tuesday afternoon.
Uig Community Centre, which overlooks the three mile long, sandy beach where the Uig Chessmen were discovered, stages a lively programme of events. During the summer months, a cafe and the Uig museum open here also.
