The Guardhouse is located in Aird, Uig, a small crofting township on the Island of Lewis on the west coast of the Western Isles (otherwise known as The Outer Hebrides). Aird is approximately half a mile (0.75km) south of Gallan Head and 34 miles (55km) west of Stornoway, within the scenic area of Uig.
RAF Aird Uig, which disbanded in 1963, lies to the north of the village and was an important monitoring station during the Cold War. Our bungalow was constructed on the site of its former Guardhouse.
